Raptors' Ibaka, Cavaliers' Chriss get heated and throw punches

Serge Ibaka and Marquese Chriss will likely be facing discipline from the National Basketball Association as a result of their altercation on Monday. Both players were ejected, obviously, and will likely face punishments from the National Basketball Association.

Before Ibaka, still seething, strode out of the arena without answering to reporters for his sins, he confirmed through a Raptors spokesman that it was what Chriss said to him that set him off.

Ibaka shoved Chriss against the base of the hoop before they started exchanging punches while officials and team-mates tried to drag them apart.

The Raptors have recently been alternating between looking like a dominant team that has figured out how to play within their game and looking like a team struggling to find the motivation to play, and Monday night in Cleveland, that second group showed up for most of the night. Cleveland's young forward appeared to stare down Ibaka following the turnover before Ibaka grabbed him near the neck. He has a bit of a history, having mixed it up in the past with opponents such as the Heat's James Johnson and the Bulls' Robin Lopez.

'Can't really make a comment on how or why they got into a first-fight, but I guess both guys were competing out there.

"I just saw some stuff building up. An altercation happened very fast". "That's usually how it goes".

Cleveland's Marquese Chriss and Toronto's Serge Ibaka battle for possession.

"That was a great win for us", Love said.

Chriss is likely also facing a suspension, but some members of his team wondered what he was supposed to do in that situation.

Quotable - Coach Larry Drew, on his rookie point guard's performance on Monday ... "It's going to cost him a game, probably... If you get in a situation where clearly you're being attacked, your natural instinct is going to be to defend yourself".
