- Most of Africa, the Middle East and Asia: While much of Europe utilizes the time change, very little of the rest of the world does. The province, however, adopts Central Standard Time for itself year-round, nullifying daylight saving time.

Initially, in Germany, the concept behind Daylight Saving Time was meant to help conserve energy.

That would put Alaska two hours off of Seattle time for most of the year.

The modern version of daylight saving time was used to conserve coal in World War I. This was originally so it would stay light longer, and people would need less heat during the war.

Several petitions on Change.org call for Ontario to stop observing the twice-yearly time change.

According to Winston Churchill, Daylight Saving Time expands "opportunities for the pursuit of health and happiness" for millions of people by optimizing the daylight hours.

A 2016 study of 300 US metropolitan areas based on evidence from peer-reviewed academic journals by Chmura Economics and Analytics found that $434 million in annual economic losses are realized in those metro areas due to DST.

States that came around: In the past, Alaska, Michigan and In did not observe the time change.

Rauscher's House Bill 43 would have the State petition the U.S. Department of Transportation to initiate proceedings under the Uniform Time Act of 1966, which would include public hearings on changing the time zone boundaries, putting Alaska permanently on Alaska Standard Time.

In Pennsylvania, Representative Russ Diamond (R) of Lebanon County is leading the charge against Daylight Saving Time. Studies have shown that automobile accidents, workplace injuries, heart attacks, strokes, cluster headaches, miscarriages, depression, and suicides all increase in the weeks following clock changes.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio is thinking even bigger. "The spring time changes is especially difficult for teenagers, who struggle to get up early for school and have a hard time advancing their sleep schedule to an earlier time".

That morning, most phones and computers will automatically jump an hour forward, and we'll lose an hour of sleep. So say hello to daylight saving time, until our clocks fall back to standard time in November.
