Pakistan arrests suspected terrorists in Pulwama attack - Tamil News

The IAF in a morning raid on February 26 struck and bombed JeM's terror camp in Pakistani territories of Balakot, Chakothi and Muzaffarabad almost two weeks after the dastardly attacks on 44 CRPF troopers in Pulwama district of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K).

The envoy took Prime Minister Khan's advice on Pak-India relations before he returned to his post in New Delhi, the Foreign Office said in a statement.

Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group claimed responsibility for the attack on February 14.

"This de-escalated a risky situation but more has to be done". Tensions between India and Pakistan flared up after the attack. Pakistan has apparently been taking steps to ease the tensions.

Kumar also said if, as Pakistan claims, it has evidence of downing of second Indian aircraft then why has it not shared it. The minister said consequent to the government's efforts and effective diplomacy, the perception about Pakistan had changed in the US.

Previous large-scale crackdowns against anti-India militants have broadly been cosmetic, with the proscribed groups able to survive and continue operations.

The daily said without worldwide pressure, a long-term solution of tension between the two countries is unlikely and the threat of nuclear war will remain intact. With the Lok Sabha elections nearing, amid the ongoing tension between nuclear-armed rivals India and Pakistan, creating fake social media accounts and operating them have become hyperactive. The accusation was vehemently rejected by Islamabad but Prime Minister Khan, in order to prevent a confrontation, promised that if India shared "actionable evidence", Pakistan would investigate it.

"This government will not allow Pakistan's land to be used for any kind of outside terrorism", Khan said on Friday while addressing a public rally in southern Pakistan.

"No infrastructure got hit, no casualties", Pakistan military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor said in a tweet soon after the Indian preemptive strike.

Regarding the role of U.S. vis-à-vis Pakistan-India escalation, the daily wrote, "While the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations aggressively worked to ensure that India-Pakistan confrontations in 1999, 2002 and 2008 did not spiral out of control, the Trump administration has done little but issue a few statements urging restraint". A grenade exploded at a bus station on Thursday, killing one person and injuring dozens.
