Instead of launching a new phone, Xiaomi has introduced a 5G variant of the Mi MIX 3 announced last October.

Xiaomi has been testing this device for quite some time but today, the company has finally announced a firm release date and pricing for Mi Mix 3 5G.

Specs-wise the Mi 9, which is the Chinese firm's follow-up to its 2018 Mi 8, features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and a dual camera with optical zoom. Naturally, there is also the Snapdragon X50 modem which allows it to support 5G network. Shortly after, the company teased that the same model would be getting a 5G version, and at the MWC 2019 trade show, we've been treated to just that. Also, since we're on the subject of 5G, the upgraded Mi MIX 3 isn't going to cost all that much, so it should come as a sigh of relief for future customers. This means that the smartphone features a magnetic slider design and it comes with ceramic body.

The display is a 6.39-inch 19.5:9 Samsung AMOLED, and beneath that is a "new and improved in-screen fingerprint sensor that unlocks the phone up to 25% faster than the previous generation", Xiaomi promises. At the rear, the smartphone offers dual-camera setup as well with 12-megapixel wide-angle and telephoto lens.

Xiaomi didn't reveal the RAM and storage variations for this new Mi MIX 3 variant. On the front side, the phone is fitted with a 20-megapixel selfie camera. Among them is the Mi 9, getting its global launch party. Having become the largest smartphone maker in India, Xiaomi is aiming to become a leader in Europe and is now bringing the Mi 9 as well.

The Mi Mix 3 5G price starts at Euro 599 (roughly Rs.48,300). Xiaomi says it will be available in May on Mi.com, at Mi Stores, and at retail partner stores.

Additionally, Xiaomi launched the Mi LED Smart Bulb at its pre-MWC conference with a price tag of Euro 19.9 (roughly Rs. 1.600).
