"Cleveland and the Houston Rockets remained engaged late Tuesday on a deal that would bring Brandon Knight and the Rockets' first-round pick to Cleveland in exchange for Alec Burks, two league sources told The Athletic". Houston will get Iman Shumpert in return.

Knight, Chriss and the first rounder are headed to Cleveland.

The Cavaliers will also send Nik Stauskas and Wade Baldwin to the Rockets in the three-way deal. Knight, 27, is averaging three points-per-game in 12 games this season for Houston.

Rockets star James Harden is also excited to have Shumpert on the team because of his ability to play all over the court. He'll give Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni a defensive option should they meet the better perimeter scoring threats - such as Kevin Durant and Paul George - in the playoffs. Knight has one year left on his deal worth $15.6 million. General manager Koby Altman traded Kyle Korver for Burks and two second-round picks.

The Rockets and Cavaliers were discussing a potential Burks trade for quite some time.

The 6-6, 205-pound guard was taken with the eighth overall pick in the 2014 draft by the Sacramento Kings out of MI. Shumpert is a free agent after this season, so they procure a pick rather than risk him walk away for nothing.

There is still time before the National Basketball Association trade deadline for the Kings to fill some gaps that Shumpert will leave behind.

Burks averaged 11.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists since joining the Cavaliers in November.
