Trump to announce date, venue of 2nd summit with Kim next week

A U.S. negotiator on Thursday called on North Korea to provide a detailed account of its weapons to seal a peace deal, saying USA president Donald Trump was ready to offer a future that includes diplomatic relations and economic aid.

Kim Yo Jong is the younger sister of leader Kim Jong Un, and one of the most powerful players in the regime.

"Ah, yes. I do".

The president then repeated his cryptic claim: "We've set the stage for what's going to happen". "We'll be announcing it early next week".

Mr Trump and Mr Kim met in Singapore last June in the first summit between a sitting United States president and a North Korean leader, an event that produced a vague commitment by Mr Kim to work towards the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula, where USA troops have been stationed in the South since the 1950-53 Korean War.

On Tuesday, U.S. intelligence chiefs in their threats report to Congress said that Iran is not now engaged in activities to produce a nuclear weapon.

US President Donald Trump speaks to reporters at the White House on Thursday.

Many people reading Trump's Thursday tweets - including former federal ethics chief Walter Shaub - were stunned that the president would claim that testimony everyone could watch on TV was somehow distorted.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity the official said North Korea's attitude toward related issues appears to have changed from the past and that concerned parties must strive to keep momentum alive. "Because I came in here saying what is this?"

In the run-up to the second USA-North Korea summit, the United States' Special Representative for North Korea will be travelling to Seoul on February 3 to hold meetings with his counterparts from both North and South Korea.

President Donald Trump speaks in the Oval Office, on January 31. It is over. It is done.

He added that North Korea wanted the U.S. to take "corresponding measures" - which he would discuss with North Korean officials in upcoming talks.

But in the intelligence report, the view on North Korea was that its leaders continue to "view nuclear arms as critical to regime survival".

"It's bigger than denuclearization, while it stands on the foundation of denuclearization, but that's the opportunity we have and those are the discussions we will be having with the North Koreans".

USA intelligence chiefs are sounding alarms about an even more perilous future for the United States, one in which Washington is in danger of losing friends and its global influence, GlobalSecurity.org reported on January 29.

Earlier in the prepared remarks, Biegun touched on this point in response to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's call for the U.S.to make "corresponding measures" to DPRK steps towards denuclearization.

According to Bloomberg news, US administration officials are making plans for the meeting to be held in Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital, but the coastal city Da Nang and the southern metropolis Ho Chi Minh City are also possible venues for the event.
