"Shallow", performed by Gaga and Bradley Cooper, earned four Grammy nominations, including song and record of the year.

Or will everyone be talking Monday about some tipsy political rant or other wacko unscripted moment?

"Bohemian Rhapsody", about the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, bested another movie surrounded by music, the favorite "A Star is Born", to win best picture, drama and best actor in a drama for Rami Malek.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" won and Rami Malek won the best dramatic award for his turn as the music group Queen's front man Freddie Mercury in "Bohemian Rhapsody".

The awards were hosted by actors Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg, who opened the ceremony with a comedy skit. The Mexican movie, which also took the prize for best director, is seen as an Oscar frontrunner in February.

"And they are not just here tonight because they resonated with audiences Hollywood often ignores", he said. She added that her co-writers "lifted me up, they supported me".

"He's incredible... without doubt he'll be on the nominations list for an Oscar and well deserved as well". Gaga was defeated by Glenn Close, for her role in The Wife.

Last year, the Golden Globes was met with a black-out where all attendees donned black in solidarity with the Time's Up Now movement. "This story, when I heard it, gave me hope, and I wanted to share that hope with you".

But there was one talented singer and actress who clearly was having the best time ever.

Olivia Colman won best actress in a comedy for her performance as daffy Queen Anne in "The Favourite".

Shape-shifting actor Christian Bale, who famously gained 40 pounds to play former Vice President Dick Cheney, won best actor in a comedy for "Vice".

The television side of the Globes can feel a bit redundant coming so soon after the Emmys in September, with numerous same nominees as the Television Academy field.
