- Investigators now say that they've received many potential leads since releasing the suspect sketch in the Jazmine Barnes murder case.

Barnes' killer was described as a white male in his 40s with blue eyes, according to officials. They said the man had stubble, like a 5 o'clock shadow, and was wearing a black hoodie.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a press conference on Thursday that the suspect could have changed his facial hair by now.

Washington said Jazmine had told her she wanted to be a teacher.

The sheriff's office says they believe the key to catching the killer might be this red truck, describing it as a four-door red or maroon pickup truck.

Before offering the reward, Merritt said he and King used their social media platforms to solicit information to help apprehend the suspect.

Days after the tragic news, O'Neal and Houston senior police Officer Kenneth Miles delivered a cashier's check to cover the costs of Tuesday's funeral for Jazmine. Her mother and three sisters were injured in the attack.

The family was stopped at a red light near a Walmart at the time of the shooting.

Barnes was a 7-year-old second-grader that was shot and killed early Sunday morning in a drive-by shooting.

Journalist Shaun King offers $35,000 in cash for the persons who turns in the murderer of 7 year old Jazmine Barnes.

On Sunday, an unknown gunman shot into a vehicle driven by Barnes's mother, LaPorsha Washington, striking the 7-year-old girl in the head.

Merritt said that in August 2017, the two men helped authorities identify several suspects seen on a widely shared cell phone video attacking DeAndre Harris, a black man, in a parking garage at a Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Gonzalez said authorities have not yet determined a motive in Sunday's shooting and have not found links between it and the 2017 cases.

Sheriff's Maj. Jesse Razo released a statement, which read, "We're going to use all resources available to bring this killer to justice".

He continued: "We need to be very deliberate in this process because ultimately we want to make sure we get to the right person".

The shooter pulled alongside the mother's vehicle (pictured) and fired into it, killing the girl.

"That's why I'm so proud of my baby, because after a traumatic thing like that, she shouldn't remember anything - she should block something like that out", Washington said.

The gunfire shattered the mother's driver's side window, Washington told CNN affiliate KTRK. "He didn't even know her, he didn't know who she was".
