Apple: Some New iPads Are Slightly Bent, But That’s Totally Normal

Apple says some 2018 iPad Pros ship with a bent body, but claims this is normal

While it's worth remembering that any aluminium chassis can bend if enough force is applied, YouTube channel JerryRigEverything put the iPad Pro 2018 to the test, relating the structural integrity of the casing to "tinfoil wrapped around mash potatoes".

Following the video, a number of users on social media platforms and on the MacRumors forum have posted photos of their 2018 iPad Pro with a bend or curve that they claim happened gradually over time without any misuse. Apple being Apple, it instead told The Verge that this is a normal side effect of the manufacturing process and won't worsen over time or negatively affect the tablet's performance.

The slight bent on the brand new iPad Pro devices is apparently caused during the cooling process of the device, according to Apple.

Those receiving a bent iPad Pro would certainly call this a defect along with a few expletives. Users reported the issue with both the smaller and larger 2018 iPad Pros. Interestingly, a writer for The Verge notified Apple about one of these bends in his own iPad Pro. It is not known if a similar problem will impact the new 11 and 12.9-inch 2018 iPad Pro models, as these devices are too new and the problem appears to surface after several months of usage.

With the release of the new iPad Pro, Apple fans are clearly anxious to get hold of their latest slice of technology from the company. The company says that it has not seen a higher than normal return rate for the device. The current iPads cost even third-party at least 830 euros for the top model with 1 TB of storage and LTE connectivity will be at the Apple Store even 2100 euros. Then Apple eventually launched a fix program for this issue and gave the assurance that more will not happen again.

The Apple is not considered the Bending as a Defect, the customer with clear consequences: you cannot expect compensation, but not more than grace hope.
