The Outer Worlds Is The Upcoming Sci-Fi RPG From Obsidian Entertainment

The latest Obsidian game is The Outer Worlds, as revealed at the Game Awards 2018. The Outer Worlds doesn't have an indie budget like Pillars of Eternity, nor does it have the scope of an AAA game like Fallout: New Vegas-it's somewhere in the middle. Your character awakens from hibernation, from there, you'll explore the colony, get to know the settlers, resolve conflicts and try to overcome the various threats coming your way.

The Outer Worlds will be a single-player RPG set on "the frontier of space", according to the trailer's narrator - but a frontier that big-brand corporations have bought out and run for their own financial needs. Many expected to see Todd Howard or Pete Hines of Bethesda Game Studios, the developer that's been launching Fallout games for the better part of a decade. It's also notable that The Outer Worlds shares a similar artistic style to Fallout. Developed by Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky (co-creators of the original Fallout), it's basically "Fallout, but in space".

Published by Private Division, The Outer Worlds will presumably be Obsidian's final multiplatform title before they move to Xbox One and PC development only. For the time being, let's just celebrate the fact that a new first-person RPG from the makers of Fallout: New Vegas is headed our way.

You'll meet various characters throughout your travels across the various settlements, space stations and other unsafe environments Halcyon has to offer, and some will be interested in joining your crew.
