"This will be about the celebration of the noble public service that George H.W. Bush gave".

Although President Donald Trump will attend Bush's national funeral service Wednesday, he is not among the eulogists announced by the Bush family, a list that includes the late president's son, former President George W. Bush.

Trump's relationship with the Bush family has been tense.

America's VetDogs, the organization that assigned Sully to former President Bush in June after he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, tweeted a sweet photo of Sully sleeping Monday, after a long day comforting mourners.

"There will be much more that I will want to say about President Bush's legacy in the days and weeks to come as we honor his memory".

House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate leader Mitch McConnell, both Republicans, also spoke.

Bush was elected US president in 1988 as the successor to Ronald Reagan.

Here is a schedule of the events following Bush's death. "He was 94 and is survived by his five children and their spouses, 17 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two siblings", the former president's office said in a statement. In addition on Fox Nation, subscribers will gain exclusive access to a vast library of content, including a special presentation of "President George H.W. Bush: The Man And His Mission". He will lie next to his wife and former first lady Barbara Bush, who died in April, and his daughter Robin Bush, who died in 1953 of leukemia at age 3. There will be a motorcade that transports Bush to Washington National Cathedral for a state funeral.

His body will return to Houston on Wednesday evening and will lie in repose at St. Martin's Episcopal Church until Thursday morning when he will be eulogized during a funeral at the church.

Soon after he reached the height of his political popularity following the liberation of Kuwait, with public approval ratings that are the envy of today's politicians, the USA economy began to sour and voters began to believe that Bush, never a great communicator - something even he acknowledged - was out of touch with ordinary people. "Honestly I just liked him", he said.
