Wilder remains WBC heavyweight champion after draw with Fury

Despite a pre-fight build that was heavy on one-liners and insults, Fury gave Wilder his respect after the fight and appeared willing to negotiate a big-money rematch.

His powers of recovery certainly impressed WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford, who compared the Briton to a famous WWE wrestler: "He got knocked out and got up like the Undertaker".

But Saturday's thriller in Los Angeles, and the inconclusive result, means that Wilder may have to wait before climbing into a ring with Joshua.

And one man who was impressed with Fury's ability to complete the round was Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua's promoter.

"I've always spoken that there should be one champion, one face, one name".

"I really thought I had him out of there", Wilder said afterwards.

"It's no secret that Joshua did not want this fight", Fury claimed. "What he has been through in his personal life, to put in a performance like that". I'm a professional athlete who loves to fight.

"I don't know what he was watching", added Fury.

The judges scored the fight at 115-111 for Wilder, 114-112 for Fury and 113-113 as a draw was declared, meaning Wilder retained his WBC heavyweight title.

Former two-weight world champion Andre Ward wrote on Twitter: "A draw, I understand (even tho I feel Fury won by a 2 or 3 rds)". "Probably more logical to have that".

"I don't think Wilder wanted to come to London, that's why Tyson (travelled)".

Per ESPN, Wilder will bank $4million for his efforts while Fury will take home $3 million, also both men have an opportunity to earn a share from PPV revenue.

"This fight has energised the division", DiBella said.

"We are two great champions", he said.

Now, Wilder has revealed what was said in that moment between the two. "Let's go and fill up a football stadium".

He had found his piece of pie in the United States and now must consider where his next tasty fight lies. "You see many of these rich people's kids doing nothing because they had it too easy".

Wilder thought he had done enough to win the fight.

Despite Fury looking like he was knocked out, the Brit managed to get up and finish the fight to the surprise of both fighters.

However, while most considered Fury ahead going into the later rounds, a ninth round knockdown from Wilder tightened things up as they headed to the championship rounds. Everyone from Chadwick Boseman, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Shaquille O'Neal to boxing stars Gennady Golovkin and Mikey Garcia gathered for the marquee heavyweight bout.

Until a sensational final round knockdown from Wilder, Fury appeared to be heading towards what would have been a remarkable upset.
