Jose Mourinho's side now find themselves seventh in the Premier League table after 13 matches, 14 points behind league-leaders Manchester City, and were booed off the pitch by the home supporters following the stalemate against Roy Hodgson's team.

Jose Mourinho is considering swinging the axe at Manchester United after his Old Trafford career reached its lowest ebb after a goalless draw against Crystal Palace in which he accused some of his players of lacking heart.

Patrick van Aanholt and Andros Townsend both passed up good chances to score what would have been a well-earned victor for Palace.

This is quickly becoming a disastrous campaign for Mourinho and his players, who finished second in the Premier League last season.

The 55-year-old, who has a near full-strength squad to choose from against Palace, added: "I believe we are going to be there".

"And I think Smalling and Lindelof, they are playing much better than at the start of the season". "When the objective is to chase the top four and to step by step close the distance to [the top four] in the period of eight Premier League matches until the end of December, it's a bad start".

"I was in London within a couple of hours by train, so it was easy to go".

"I think Mourinho is at fault for having this kid [Rashford] thinking every time he steps on the field, he has to prove himself", Nicol said on ESPN FC.

"But we were not enough ambitious or intensity to do it". It was a game we really needed to win.

"I'm happy to extend my time with Chelsea, it has been two attractive years and I wish for more to come".

Most of Sarri's side picks itself, with a settled goalkeeper and back four joined by Jorginho and N'Golo Kante as midfield regulars.

And Ince has criticised Martial, suggesting he should have used the opportunity to prove he can be a key player for Mourinho. "No chance this is one point we are winning".
