Woman rescued 6 days after odd road accident

The three saw a mangled auto entangled in a mesquite tree, made their way to the bottom of the hill and checked the vehicle.

The woman, who did not want to be identified, was traveling on USA 60 near Wickenburg in west-central Arizona on October 12 when she lost control of her vehicle, ran off the road and landed in a mesquite tree some 50 feet below the roadway, according to a press release. A DPS trooper responded but did not find anyone in the vehicle.

Six days later, an Arizona Department of Transportation maintenance worker and a rancher were attempting to corral a cow along the roadway when they discovered the break in the fence.

They spotted the gap in the fence and then found the vehicle in the tree.

Her vehicle crashed through a right-of-way fence and plummeted 50 feet before landing in a mesquite tree, where it dangled above the ground until emergency responders were alerted to the incident.

When they followed the tracks, they found the woman.

The 53-year-old woman's vehicle went off the road, smashing through a fence and landing in a tree, where she remained suspended for days.

A woman has been found in the Arizona desert six days after a auto crash left her stranded with serious injuries.

"I don't know if she could have made it there another night", Moralez said.

The 53-year-old told the team she lost control of her auto and stayed inside the wreck for several days following the crash.

After following them for some 500 yards, the rescuers finally found the woman, who was found seriously injured and with severe dehydration having incredibly survived on just grass and water for just under a week.

"Once she climbed out, she walked toward the railroad tracks in the area with the hope of being discovered", AZDPS said.

Officials did not identify the women or provide any further details about her injuries or the cause of the accident.

In the statement, AZDPS Director Frank Milstead praised everyone involved for working together to help the woman. Too weak, she collapsed in the riverbed.

"Due to their outstanding efforts, this woman's life was saved", he said in the statement.
