On Saturday, Trump called the shooting an act of pure evil and called on Americans to rise above hatred.

Bowers, 46, of Baldwin, was taken into custody after a shootout with police and was treated at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Federal prosecutors charged Bowers late on October 27 with 29 criminal counts including violating USA civil rights laws. He did not enter a plea.

"We can not forget and go back to our daily lives", Eric D. Fingerhut, president and CEO of the Jewish student organization Hillel International, said in a statement.

Bowers killed eight men and three women before a police tactical team shot him, authorities said.

But he has said little about Bowers, and shown little interest in joining a national debate about whether the country's hostile political climate or loose gun regulations helped enable the attack.

Cohen said that he was one of the very first professionals on the scene and was able to hear the gunfire from his home. He also commented that he did not vote for Mr Trump.

The weekend massacre, which took place 10 days before the midterm elections, has heightened tensions across the US. He said the Nazis were nationalists.

Rabbi Brett Krichiver said earlier he hopes the service will give people from all walks of faith a chance to grieve together.

"I'm a citizen. He's my president. He is my president", Myers told CNN.

Survivors are recounting the terror of hiding in a dark closet during the massacre that killed 11 at a Pittsburgh synagogue and asking why the gunman blames them for the world's problems. He said Trump is trying to "instigate his base", and "bigots are coming out of the woodwork".

"We go to synagogues that look just like (Tree of Life) synagogue. Then I turned around and left", he explained. Globalism in its contemporary usage didn't exist around 1900, when modern anti-Semitism was formulated. "The people in the back of the sanctuary I could not save".

They included David Rosenthal, 54; his brother Cecil Rosenthal, 59; Sylvan Simon, 86, and his wife Bernice Simon, 84; Joyce Fienberg, 75; Richard Gottfried, 65; Jerry Rabinowitz, 66; Daniel Stein, 71; Melvin Wax, 88; and Irving Younger, 69.

Bowers has been charged with deadly hate crimes.

The president of the hospital where a wounded Bowers was taken said that he was ranting against Jews even as Jewish staff members were treating him.

Charging documents said the suspect, Robert Gregory Bowers, armed with an AR-15 assault rifle and three handguns, wanted all Jews to die and that Jews "were committing genocide to his people", an apparent reference to his belief that a Jewish refugee agency assisting foreign nationals entering the USA endangered non-Jews in America. "Ain't that a kick in the trousers?"

Cohen says he stopped by Bowers' room to see how he was doing. "The FBI agent who was guarding him said, 'I don't know if I could have done that.' And I said, 'If you were in my shoes, I'm sure you could'". Bowers, who has a history of posting anti-Semitic material online, will get a court-appointed attorney and was remanded to the custody of USA marshals. He is also accused of posting antisemitic rants on social media. "When people do this, they should get the death penalty". "Screw your optics. I'm going in".

Mr. Trump, who quickly branded Saturday's shooting an act of pure evil and called on Americans to rise above hatred, was already facing similar criticism ahead of November 6 congressional elections following pipe bombs mailed last week to some of his most prominent critics.
