Raiders' Belief In Derek Carr Has 'Deteriorated'

Raiders QB Derek Carr refuses to throw the ball down the field

While seasoned National Football League veterans know enough to never be surprised by a roster move, some Raiders players told Vic Tafur of The Athletic that the way Gruden handled the trades has them questioning the coach's "accountability".

The only player willing to speak on the record was tight end Lee Smith, saying he was "concerned" for his teammates that could be traded any minute because they're losing interest in playing football under Gruden. "We didn't want to believe it was coming, and Coach said we weren't going to trade him". " Smith said. "You never ever want to trade elite, homegrown talent". One player wondered whether he would even be with the Raiders next week.

Just when we thought the situation in Oakland couldn't get any worse, it amazingly continues to get worse.

"When what you say and what you do are two different things, there is a problem", one player told the reporter. "Derek is always going to come in here and tell us when he needs to play better, that's something that he does on a daily basis".

Carr, 27, has led the Raiders to a 1-5 start to the season, and the team's prospects are much bleaker than they were in 2016 when they went 12-4, earning consideration as budding Super Bowl contenders.

Might Derek Carr be the next Oakland Raider to walk the plank?

He added: "The attacking of our strongest leader and the strongest man in our locker room is absolute horsesh-".

"Nobody was happy when we traded Khalil".

Two weeks ago, Derek Carr could be seen shedding tears in the final minutes of the loss in London against the Seahawks.

At this point, Jon Gruden is coaching and orchestrating like a man who knows he'll be employed far longer than any of his players. Team sources describe a fractured relationship between Carr and his teammates, mostly because confidence in him has waned.

Raiders Speculation now turns to Carr, whose contract has four years remaining at an average of $19.6 million per season.
