New Report Reveals Why Netflix and Marvel Cancelled Luke Cage

As was reported just last week, the adventures of Luke Cage and Mike Colter's time in the role have come to an end now that Marvel Television and Netflix opted to cancel the series, right on the heels of cancelling Iron Fist just one week prior. But, being that the Simone Missick co-starrer crashed Netflix in its first season opening weekend in September 2016 and had a very well watched and well received 13-episode Season 2, it could be a Sweet Christmas, as Cage likes to quip"A lot [of] memorie s", Coker tweeted". Just want to say thank you to Marvel, Netflix, the best Writer's room, cast, crew, the Midnight Hour, all those who graced the stage at Harlem's Paradise and the most incredible fan base in the world. Both Jessica Jones and the Punisher have been renewed for third and second seasons, respectively, and Daredevil's third season premiered earlier this month. Netflix does not release their viewership figures for their shows, but it doesn't appear that Luke Cage lacked support. It also adds there was an "inability to agree to terms for a third season of the show".

Given how baffling this news was to fans, they aren't sitting sweetly and just accepting Netflix's decision.

Luke Cage actor Mike Colter was also thankful for the opportunity to portray Luke Cage and had a positive message. Now, turns out, that isn't the case, but series lead Mike Colter isn't sweating it. But something more powerful, like a hard punch from an immortal Iron Fist, or the long arm of cancellation from the higher-ups at Netflix or Marvel Television, not so much. "The cancellation of this beloved show is utterly flabbergasting".

After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin.

And now, let's cross our collective fingers and toes that it won't join Iron Fist and Luke Cage on the chopping block.
