Australia will now face Pakistan for a three-match T20I series, starting October 24 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

This becomes Australia's heaviest defeat against Pakistan, beating the 356-run hammering at this same venue four years ago.

Usman Khawaja, whose herculean century helped Australia salvage a draw in the first test, couldn't bat in the second innings after tearing a left knee cartilage in the warmup on Thursday.

Pakistan stand-in captain Asad Shafiq outsmarted Finch's tactic of standing well outside his crease while facing Abbas, by making Rizwan stand close to the stumps, forcing the batsman inside the crease.

The 28-year-old ripped through the Baggy Greens' top order on Friday morning after Travis Head (36) and Aaron Finch (31) had put on 61 for the second wicket and then returned to seal his second five-for of the match and fourth in 10 Tests when he dismissed top-scorer Marnus Labuschagne (43).

Legspinner Yasir Shah ran through the tailenders with 3-45, finishing off the match by having Jon Holland caught in the slips on 3.

Chasing a whopping 538 to win, a deflated Australian batting lineup left one man down by Khawaja's injury were bowled out for 164 shortly after lunch on day four. Though Mohammad Abbas was also the Player of the Series on the tour of England, here he was bowling on unresponsive subcontinent wickets in the UAE.

"Abbas challenged our defence and was too good for us", he said.

"All the youngsters who have come through in recent times have done well".

"Looks like they hadn't prepared for Abbas, they took him a little easy", said Sarfraz.

"It's bitterly disappointing, no doubt", skipper Tim Paine said. "That is what Pakistan did really well together", he said.

"Yasir didn't get the wickets, but he bowled just as well".

Australia had reached 155-7 at lunch with the writing very much on the wall.

Serious questions will linger about how Australia managed to end up so far behind the game after an inspired Nathan Lyon spell left Pakistan reeling at 5-57 in the first innings.

Pakistan and Australia will now play a three-match Twenty20 global series starting October 24.
