YouTube back up after outage

YouTube's sudden outage left many users in despair after the site went down for nearly two hours.

There's been a steady stream of comments on social media sites tonight asking why YouTube is not working worldwide. "We're working on resolving this and will let you know once fixed", YouTube said in a tweet.

YouTube acknowledged the outage in a tweet at 9:41 p.m. EDT, noting that it affected YouTube, YouTube Music and YouTube TV. "YouTube server goes down during a lecture on YouTube - first in history", wrote the Twitter user.

Access to YouTube videos began to be restored around 10:45 p.m. ET on the web and mobile, per user reports.

YouTube is the world's second most-visited website.

YouTube users in both the USA and United Kingdom are confirming that the Google-owned site and service is not now functioning properly.

When everything was back up and running, the Twitter account added, "We're back!"

In 2006, Google acquired YouTube for $1.65 billion.

Users across Taiwan found a blank website or error message instead of its usual selection of videos during the unexpeccted service disruption.

We hope that the issue gets resolved soon enough but for those who are left stranded with this massive outage should check out these YouTube alternatives for watching videos.

YouTube is down Tuesday night and everyone wants to know why.

"For about two hours, traffic to YouTube was routed according to erroneous Internet Protocols", a YouTube spokesperson had said.
