Having pulled-out of a deal to re-sign Aaron Ramsey, at least for the time being, manager Unai Emery faces the challenge of signing his own midfield replacement in 2019 - be that in January or next summer.

Ramsey has been a key player for Arsenal since joining the club from Cardiff City ten years ago as he's provided 60 goals and 60 assists in 340 appearances and has netted some important goals to help the Gunners win 3 FA Cup's in recent years.

"We tried that before and it still can happen", Wenger told Sky Sports.

With the likes of Juventus also keen to sign the player, Arsenal fans will be hoping that the midfielder turns down Premier League interest to move overseas, but that may not be the case.

Sources have told ESPN FC that Liverpool do not hold an interest in the Wales global but Manchester United and Chelsea are prepared to monitor the situation in the event he is available for nothing.

The report suggests that Unai Emery is long-term admirer of the midfielder, who has a different style to that of Aaron Ramsey, but his workrate and impressive performances when played make him a top target of the Gunners Spanish boss.

Ramsey is set to leave the Emirates club after a decade of service in North London.

The Welshman is being heavily linked with a free transfer to Liverpool, but Manchester United and Chelsea are both said to be monitoring his future. However, it seems Liverpool are not keen on luring Ramsey.

It would be a huge loss for Arsenal to let Ramsey go for free.
