Rahul Dravid Says India

After a comprehensive win over the West Indies by an innings and 272 runs in the opening Test at Rajkot, India announced their 12-man squad for the second and final Test on Thursday.

After producing a dominant performance against West Indies in the first Test, India will be aiming for a whitewash while taking on the visiting side in their second clash at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Friday. Captain Virat Kohli makes a comeback to the Indian squad after sitting out the Asia Cup last month.

As expected wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has made the 14-member squad as a second fiddle to MS Dhoni.

Here's more on the same.

The selection of these two means DK lost his spot. Rohit Sharma, who captained India to an Asia Cup triumph, is the vice captain for the ODI series.

Perhaps, the selectors want to have a look at Pant. KL Rahul has found himself in the squad while it remains to be seen if he's going to play.

Kedar Jadhav has been left out as he is battling a hamstring injury.

Pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been rested for the first two ODIs while Mohammed Shami has been included in the limited-overs set up. He was ruled out in between the Asia Cup after a back injury. Thakur is the 294th Test player for India and replaced Mohammad Shami in this Test. Shami, according to Kohli, was rested after playing six consecutive matches in the longer version.

The opener stepped out against the off-spinner, who quickly shortened his length and pitched it wide, prompting an uppish drive straight to Ravindra Jadeja at cover.
