'After today's game we have two weeks, then we go straight into games against Chelsea, in the Premier League, and Juventus, in the Champions League, with two recovery days in between, ' Mourinho said in his matchday programme notes ahead of the game against Newcastle at Old Trafford.

"They are so strong. It is a good match, a good combination", said Klopp.

It is a risky approach with Klopp having a better record against Guardiola going back to their time when they were rivals at Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund - winning half of their 14 encounters and drawing two more.

Jurgen Klopp's side now sit level on points with Man City at the top of the Premier League table.

"When you have a vision about the history of the Premier League and you start to compare it with them, to be closer with them, we should be so proud and we are".

When asked if De Bruyne will be fit to face the Reds in the Premier League, Guardiola was concise in his reply: "We will see on Saturday".

City's trip to Anfield tomorrow has focused attention on Klopp's winning record against Pep Guardiola, who is hoping to avoid an unprecedented fourth consecutive defeat against the same club. But with United already nine points adrift and Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea also playing catch-up, Liverpool know beating City is the key to ending that long wait. "I didn't watch that documentary, I heard about it and, now I saw it, is there anything where you think, 'Wow?'" said Klopp. We have many of them. "After none of these games you go into the dressing room and think, "Now we've got it, now we know how to beat Manchester City"," insisted Klopp. Both teams are now locked on 19 points after seven games, and it's a hard match to call, despite Jurgen Klopp's impeccable record against Pep Guardiola at Anfield. Different game, different opponent, different challenge - unfortunately even bigger challenge. In the last 15 minutes they had two big chances and scored a goal, they had moments more than we did. He is always up there scoring the most goals in the Premier League.

"Liverpool beat us they beat a lot of teams not just Manchester City. They are a top side and reached the Champions League final".
