Brett Kavanaugh: White Home denies limiting Federal Bureau of Investigation inquiry

Retired Supreme Court justice Anthony Kennedy declines to analyze Kavanaugh nomination fight

"They'll be doing things that we have never even thought of", Trump said as he left the White House for a trip to West Virginia.

The lawyer for Deborah Ramirez, who has accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct when they were students at Yale, has agreed to cooperate with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Senate has delayed its vote until the FBI conducts a one-week investigation into the allegations made both by Ford and other women. The decision drew criticism from Democrats, accusing the White House of an attempt to micromanage the investigation by limiting its scope.

It will also question Mark Judge, a friend of Kavanaugh who Ford said witnessed the assault, and Leland Keyser and P.J. Smyth, who she said were at the gathering.

The third woman, Julie Swetnick, accused Kavanaugh and Judge of excessive drinking and inappropriate treatment of women in the early 1980s, among other accusations.

"The court's strength as an institution in American governance depends on people believe it having a certain legitimacy. that it's not simply an extension of politics", she said.

Flake said that nobody - including himself - expected the scene that played out on Friday to happen.

The person familiar with the matter said the investigation must conclude by Friday and it is possible, but unlikely, agents will finish their work before the end of the week.

Trump has denied the allegations of sexual harassment and assault against him. The FBI has opened an investigation after Trump bowed to pressure from moderate Senate Republicans.

"They report phony news", said Trump, who spent more than 80 minutes last Wednesday answering questions from journalists at a news conference the White House scheduled during the U.N. General Assembly session in NY. Trump Jr. tells DailyMail TV that he found the situation "scary" and that lives could be ruined by false claims. Kavanaugh denies the allegations.

The FBI is engaging in a weeklong probe into the claims against Kavanaugh.

Rachel Mitchell writes in a new memo sent to Senate Republicans that she does not believe a "reasonable prosecutor would bring this case based on the evidence before the Committee". He praised Mr Kavanaugh's angry and defiant testimony last Thursday, which followed Dr Ford's appearance before the Senate Judiciary committee. Mitchell argues that that there are inconsistencies in Ford's narrative and says no one has corroborated her account. Ford, a California college professor, was not questioned as part of a criminal proceeding but in the confirmation process.

Additionally, a former Yale classmate of Kavanaugh's yesterday released a statement saying he was "deeply troubled" by the nominee's efforts to downplay his drinking in his youth.

Republicans, who are trying to retain control of the U.S. Congress in November elections, are seeking to balance their desire for another conservative justice on the court with sensitivity about how they handle sexual misconduct allegations amid the reverberations of the #MeToo movement.

When the justices have said or done something seen as political, the reaction is often swift.

At least three women have accused Kavanaugh of years-ago misconduct. Ms Deborah Ramirez alleges that Mr Kavanaugh exposed his penis to her during a drunken party at a Yale University dormitory when they were undergraduates.
