Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba feud began the day he signed

Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho are seen staring each other down while exchanging words during United's training.

Dimitar Berbatov says he is "fed up" of headlines about Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba and has told the pair to sort their differences out in the dressing room.

But then, as he shook hands with one of the team management members, Mourinho said something, which caused Pogba to turn around and look angrily at the Portuguese mentor.

The former Chelsea player has revealed what Mourinho said to him in their conversation.

As extra time is no longer played in the early rounds of the EFL Cup, the game went straight to penalties.

Before the start of the 2018-19 season, it was speculated that Paul Pogba would move to Barcelona but the £45m bid by the Catalan club was turned down by United.

The defeat came three days after a draw at home to Wolves which left Mourinho's side eight points behind leaders Liverpool in the Premier League table.

Since rejoining United, Pogba has had many ups and downs, but his biggest downfall is arguably his seemingly fractured relationship with Jose Mourinho.

"I'm not the manager, I can not, like, say that but ... obviously we should show more option of playing but I can not say that because I'm a player", Pogba said.

"Mourinho's message to the United squad, delivered at Carrington today, was created to underline his authority and remind the players that he is in charge", added The Times report.

Manchester United manager Mourinho has never backed out of criticizing his players in public, but his recent comments about Phil Jones and Eric Bailly have not gone down well.

"I'm not saying Mourinho is innocent, he's clearly not, but there are too many players hiding".

Now, Pogba told the Manchester United director and coach that he wants to sign for Barcelona.

But the apprentice's victory over his teacher was a painful blow to Mourinho, who has endured a troubled time since the end of last season and had to watch as Lampard danced jubilantly with his players on the pitch.

United were sent out of the championship by League one side Derby County who is now being managed by former Chelsea star Frank Lampard.
