Tropical Storm Kirk makes a comeback

Chances Kirk will redevelop increase, tropical depression possible off North Carolina

The remnants of Kirk re-strengthened into a tropical storm.

The center of Tropical Storm Kirk was located 595 miles east-southeast of Martinique.

The latest analysis of Kirk found a center of circulation but also winds up to 45 miles per hour.

The system continues to move towards the west near 18 mph (30 km/h), with a west to west-northwestward motion expected over the next 12 to 24 hours.

The Met office says Barbados will experience gusty winds, heavy showers, periods of rain and scattered thunderstorms later tonight and tomorrow. Rainfall accumulations of at least 2 to 4 inches (50 to 100 millimetres) are possible between Wednesday night and Friday morning. Some flash-flooding is likely in low-lying areas, thus, residents are urged to be on the alert and take all necessary precautions.

The 2018 tropical season ends November 30.

Unlike other countries such as Barbados, St Lucia, and St Vincent & the Grenadines, no tropical storm Warnings or Watches has been issued for the BVI.

Elsewhere, Storm Leslie was downgraded into a non-tropical storm on Tuesday although it could potentiall ramp up again in size later this week.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said tropical storm Rosa's current wind speeds of 65mph will intensify quickly, swirling into hurricane status later this afternoon.

A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area, in this case within 36 hours.

An identical warning has been issued by France's government for Guadeloupe and Martinique. Because hurricane preparedness activities become hard once winds reach tropical storm force, the Warning is issued 36 hours in advance of the onset of tropical storm force winds.

Since then, Kirk's leftovers have generally stuck together as they have continued to truck westward toward the Caribbean.

Meanwhile, an area of low pressure off North Carolina has a 50 percent chance of becoming a tropical depression.
