Kavanaugh Denies Second Sexual Misconduct Allegation

After a meeting at the United Nations in New York City Monday morning, Trump told reporters that Kavanaugh is "a fine man with an unblemished past" and that the accusations were "highly unsubstantiated" and "totally political".

Ford is set to testify at a Senate hearing on Thursday.

Ms Ford's lawyers Debra Katz and Lisa Banks had said that many aspects of Mr Grassley's latest offer were "fundamentally inconsistent" with the committee's promise of a "fair, impartial investigation". Deborah Ramirez described the incident after being contacted by The New Yorker magazine.

Several Senate Republicans have called the allegations "smears" and urged a vote on Kavanaugh after Thursday's hearing. A handful of senators in both parties remain undecided on his nomination.

Kavanaugh has denied both allegations against him.

She has claimed he molested her when they were in their teens at a high school party in Maryland in 1982. I had heard rumors that there was someone from Yale College who had a very bad experience, an arguably sexually harassing experience, with Judge Kavanaugh from a number of acquaintances from Yale, but without the specifics of name and a place and time. Trump's team discussed the latest allegation with the President over the course of the day Sunday before the story was published, another White House official said.

Republicans had been bullish about Kavanaugh's chances to ride out the storm, given that Ford did not appear to have any corroborating witnesses ready to testify. "I also ask that the newest allegations of sexual misconduct be referred to the FBI for investigation, and that you join our request for the White House to direct the FBI to investigate the allegations of Christine Blasey Ford as well as these new claims".

A woman who studied at Yale with Kavanaugh told The New Yorker in an article Sunday that the federal appeals court judge sexually assaulted her at a college party in the 1980s. She said that Judge did not name others involved in the incident, and she has no knowledge that Kavanaugh participated.

"We were told no decision has been made on this important issue, even though various senators have been dismissive of her account and should have to shoulder their responsibility to ask her questions", the attorneys for Ford said in a statement. Whatever action they take to address this second accusation will slow down Kavanaugh's time-sensitive nomination, which the GOP wanted to get done before November's congressional elections.

"I don't think Brett would flash himself to Debbie, or anyone, for that matter", he said.

"If they continue to contest those two things, there won't be a hearing", Graham said.

But the White House and Senate Republicans continue to say that Kavanaugh is a "good man".

Blasey and Kavanaugh are scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee about Blasey's accusations on Thursday.

But if the allegations are serious enough that they tank Kavanaugh's Supreme Court confirmation, there will be pressure to remove him from his current position as well.

Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee said they would investigate Ramirez's accusation.

Rachel O'Leary Carmona of the Women's March echoed Fallon. - President Donald Trump's newest Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is expected to face punishing questioning from Democrats this week over his endorsement of presidential immunity and his opposition to abortion.

It's been a particularly traumatizing week for victims of sexual assault and harassment.
