Speaking at the funeral, Mr Alavi said intelligence ministry agents and other security personnel would catch all of those connected to the attack, adding that a majority were already in custody.

Iran warned of revenge against the "triangle" of Saudi Arabia, Israel and the United States today as it buried the 29 people killed in an attack on a Revolutionary Guard parade.

The Daesh militant group claimed responsibility for the rare assault.

The Gulf Arab state of Qatar, a rival of USA allies Saudi Arabia and the UAE, condemned the assault on the military parade, which wounded at least 70 people.

"Iran neither put its defensive arms aside nor lessens its defensive capabilities", Rouhani said. Iran holds regional terror sponsors and their USA masters accountable for such attacks. Soldiers crawled about as gunfire crackled.

Arab separatists have carried out a low-level insurgency in recent years that has seen gunmen attacks on security forces and bombings.

"It is unacceptable that these groups are not considered to be terrorist groups by the European Union provided they do not commit acts of terror in Europe", Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Bahram Qasemi said.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Hezbollah, two of Iran's closest allies, issued statements condemning the attack, with Assad referencing outside involvement and Hezbollah echoing allegations of U.S. blame. "Iran will respond swiftly and decisively in defense of Iranian lives", he tweeted.

Rouhani made the comments at a military parade Saturday commemorating the start of Iran's eight-year war with neighboring Iraq, which began back in 1980.

Tehran also summoned diplomats from Denmark, the Netherlands and Britain for allegedly hosting members of the group suspected of links to Saturday's attack that killed 24 people, according to a revised death toll. Both military personnel and civilians were among the casualties, according to Iran's state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

State TV hours later reported that all four gunmen had been killed, with three dying during the attack and one later succumbing to his wounds at a hospital.

It answers to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

"Their crime is a continuation of the conspiracies by the US -backed regimes in the region which have aimed at creating insecurity in our dear country", Khamenei said in a statement.

In 2015, under then-president Barack Obama, the USA and Iran reached a landmark nuclear deal - also signed by China, Russia, the UK, France and Germany - where Iran limited its nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief. It also has steadily ramped up pressure on Iran to try to get it to stop what Washington calls its "malign activities" in the region.

"The United States condemns any terrorist attack anywhere, period".

Initially, authorities described the assailants as "takfiri gunmen", a term previously used to describe the Islamic State group.

However, under the Trump administration, these relations have deteriorated further as the American leader pulled the United States out of a nuclear agreement that had been agreed to with Iran and other nations under his predecessor, President Barack Obama, and moved to reimpose sanctions on Tehran.

Some Arabs, one of two main ethnic groups in the province alongside Persians, complain of systematic discrimination and demand Independence from what they describe as an "Persian occupation".

Khuzestan province also has seen recent protests over Iran's nationwide drought, as well as economic protests.

Iran has blamed its Mideast archrival, the Sunni kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for funding Arab separatists.

Shi'ite Iran is at odds with Western-allied Sunni Muslim Saudi Arabia for predominance in the Middle East.

Tehran summons European diplomats over rebel contacts.

. However, none of them stated that they were members of IS or pledged allegiance to the group's leader, Abu-Bakr al-Baghdadi - something that is common in such pre-attack videos.

He said: "It is America who supports these little mercenary countries in the region". To bolster his claim, he gave details about one of the attackers that the AP could not immediately verify.

Ghasemi also said Iran expected the Danish and Dutch governments to "hand over the perpetrators of this attack and anyone related to them to Iran for a fair trial".
