Cruz Leads O'Rourke In Latest Poll

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas says he wishes Democrats weren't "so quick to always blame the police officer" after challenger Beto O'Rourke suggested that a white officer who shot and killed a black neighbor should be fired.

Democrats are broadly seen as facing steep odds in trying to capture a Senate majority in the November 6 congressional elections as they have to defend seats in 10 states that the Republican Trump won in the 2016 presidential election. But the protesters had no connection to O'Rourke's campaign, and the Democratic candidate for the Senate has given no indication he wants to mess with meat.

"In a conversation with IJR, PETA said that they protested outside Cruz's event because he took a swipe at tofu". "We're not happy til they're not happy". Last November, he hosted 110 barbecues across the state in a single day, appearing at them virtually over YouTube Live. Cruz has consistently attempted to paint O'Rourke as too liberal for Texas' more conservative electorate that hasn't elected a Democrat statewide since 1994.

"Ted Cruz is cruzin' for a bruisin' because you don't mess with Texas tofu-eaters". Speaking in Katy earlier this month, he told a crowd of supporters, "We are seeing tens of millions of dollars flooding into the state of Texas from liberals all over the country who desperately want to turn the state of Texas blue. 'We're not happy until they're not happy". The audience booed during his remarks.

According to an online poll released Wednesday by Reuters and Ipsos in conjunction with the University of Virginia Center for Politics, O'Rourke leads Cruz by two percentage points among likely voters.

Released Tuesday, the survey found Cruz with 54 percent support and O'Rourke, an El Paso congressman, with 45 percent.
