Apple expected to unveil bigger, pricier iPhone on Wednesday

Apple's special event is happening today, September 12, at 10a Pacific Time.

According to CNET, in the hours leading up to the major event Apple is holding on Wednesday, a last-minute leak by the company's sitemap revealed a handful of information regarding several big announcements set to be made later today, including confirmation of a number of new iPhones. The names were revealed via links to otterbox cases for the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

Two of the iPhone models predicted to debut on Wednesday were expected to have prices higher than the iPhone X, which has been a hot seller.

The new iPhones, which go on sale this month and next, mean price reductions on older models.

Rival Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has a few models that cost almost as much as Apple models, but the bulk of its line-up, like that of other phone makers, consists of cheaper models.

Apple has considered naming the new model the iPhone Xr, Bloomberg reported.

Apple has once again taken to its Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino to show off the iPhone XS, the Apple Watch Series 4 and potentially a few other surprises. The phone sports a 6.1-inch edge-to-edge LCD display (which Apple dubs "Liquid Retina") that sports a notched design and provides more overall screen space than the iPhone 8 Plus.

As with the iPhone X, the new phone has a screen that runs from edge to edge, an effort to maximize the display without making the phone too awkward to hold.

Another model, iPhone Xs, for $999, comes with a 5.8-inch screen, faster processor and better cameras. Now we can see a list of exactly which colours will be available at launch: black, white, red, yellow, blue and coral. While similar in size to the iPhone 8 Plus, the Xs Max will employ a steel chassis opposed to aluminum.

Apple says that the iPhone XS will offer 30 minutes more battery life than the iPhone X, while the XS Max will serve up to 90 more minutes of juice than last year's model.

On the camera, it features a single 12-mgapixel rear camera.

The new MacBook is said to be aimed at consumers and schools, while the Mac mini will seek to meet the needs of graphic designers and other professionals. Windows users can watch using Microsoft's Edge browser.

According to code on the sitemap seen by ATH, the company is also planning to release bigger watches, with its Apple Watch 4 coming in 40 mm and 44 mm sizes.

Additionally a new AirPower wireless charger is expected to be announced to supplement the new devices.
