Organizers said that the Tuxedo Junction concert, scheduled to take place at the Arbor Crest Wine Cellars Sunday, had been canceled due to the air quality.

As winds shift and pick up, thick smoke from hundreds of wildfires burning in British Columbia is being pushed into the South Sound. "We try to stay inside as much as we can", said Diadio, "it's just too very bad out there". Doctors say if you feel unwell at all during the period of poor air quality to see a doctor immediately. "But at these levels, I think all of us should be keeping an eye on it and doing what we can to protect our lungs". During this time, fine particle pollution is expected to remain at, or above, a level that is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups.

People active outdoors should limit their exertion. Biking to work is not a good idea.

The Minnesota Department of Health said in a 2015 report that air pollution like that from wildfires - specifically, small particulates - contributed to more than 2,000 deaths and 600 emergency room visits in 2008 alone. Smoke could worsen into unhealthy levels by Monday, the agency said. Other nearby regions have been in the "very unhealthy" to "hazardous" range.

An Air Quality Alert remains in effect until 5 p.m. on Wednesday for the western half of Washington state.

"Wildfire smoke is a natural part of our environment but it is important to be mindful that exposure to smoke may affect your health". An alert was also issued for today. This means no outdoor burning in King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Kitsap counties, including charcoal barbeques, campfires or bonfires, and fire pits or similar free-standing devices. The odds for a soaking rain seem fairly low, unfortunately; and, as with previous disturbances skirting the high pressure, this one brings with it the risk of more dry lightning and additional fire starts.

Showers and storms will be widespread by this afternoon into this evening.
