Elon Musk Says 2018 Has Been His Most "Difficult and Painful" Year

Musk has also lashed out at both the media and analysts from large Wall Street banks in recent months, calling questions from analysts "boring, bonehead questions" and suggesting he would start a website to rank the credibility of individual journalists, after Tesla received negative press coverage.

The matter stems in part from an assertion Musk made on Twitter - that he had "funding secured" for a privatization deal, and stating the price at which shareholders could unload their shares: $420 each, a roughly 20% premium over Tesla's current stock price at the time. Stuart D. Meissner, Tripp's lawyer in his countersuit against Tesla, also took on another client - Karl Hansen, a former Tesla security employee at Gigafactory 1, who is also suing the electric vehicle maker.

Tesla managed to hit its Model 3 production target in June.

"Weed is not helpful for productivity".

Musk also came under fire during the rescue of 12 children from a cave in Thailand where officials dismissed his plan to save them with a miniature submarine created by his rocket company SpaceX.

"The worst is over from a Tesla operational standpoint", he said.

"I definitely did not get calls from irate directors", he said. Formalities exist for good reason, but articles like today's Times piece bolster Musk's case that he erred on the side of disclosure.

"There were times when I didn't leave the factory for three or four days - days when I didn't go outside", Musk said, adding: "This has really come at the expense of seeing my kids".

'Is there someone who can do the job better? The tweet said: "Am considering taking Tesla private at $420".

It's followed by how he very almost had to miss being best man at his brother's wedding, and just slipped in and out of the celebration before getting back to the factory, and it makes you wonder anyone could live like that for years at a time.

Tesla's stock tumbled after CEO Elon Musk said he's working himself to the bone and relies on Ambien to sleep.

Despite the frenzy over Tesla's future, production of the pivotal Model 3 sedan - which has frequently kept Musk at the Fremont factory overnight - is defying the odds and going well, according to Evercore ISI analysts.

At the time, the SEC subpoenaed a parts supplier working with the electric auto maker, one of the sources said.

Yet there may be hope for this billionaire still: Tesla board members are reportedly searching for a No. 2 executive to help take some of the weight off Musk's shoulders, the Times reported.

Musk, Tesla's chief executive officer and chairman, typed the tweet as he drove himself to the airport on August 7, the newspaper reported, citing Musk.

"They can have the job".

"It is often a choice of no sleep or Ambien", he said, referring to an insomnia medication.

Musk said while he's committed to being Tesla's chairman and CEO, he asked the interviewers if they have anyone that could do a better job to "please let me know". "They can have the reins right now", Musk tells the Times.

Hansen is a retired special agent and criminal investigator for the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command and former senior investigator in Southern California for the Federal Maritime Commission, Meissner said.
