According to CNBC, the free food "for life" contest is aimed at boosting the popularity of McDonald's online ordering system.

"One potential victor will be selected from among all eligible Entries received for the entire Entry period, in a random prize drawing on or about August 29, 2018, conducted by an independent organization selected by Sponsor".

Though meant to generate attention, the promotion actually could be a marketing McCoup for the Golden Arches. Big Macs for 50 years?

One victor will win an elusive McGold Card from McDonald's. "I don't think it's going to do anything to encourage the app usage".

More than just free burgers, fries, and nuggets for life, the McGold card also includes a customized 24-carat golden phone case to mark the lucky person's membership into the history and mystery of McGold Card lore.

This is the first time a McGold Card has been awarded in a contest.

No matter how you might feel about McDonald's, the chance to get free McDonald's for life is a hell of a deal.

"To celebrate Mobile Order & Pay, we're giving one of our mobile customers the chance to win the McGold Card and join a select group of McDonald's fans, just for using the app", said Hashim Amin, the head of USA digital at McDonald's.

Nevertheless, entering the contest takes a minimal amount of effort and it could earn you a whole lot of McDonald's.

The contest runs from August 10 through August 24 with one possible entry per day.
