Police in the eastern Canadian city of Fredericton, New Brunswick, asked residents to avoid the area and stay in their homes while they dealt with the incident, which they said had left four people dead. He said that about five minutes later he could hear similar sounds near his home. "The girls here, we were talking about Moncton and how it felt so close to what happened there".

"I am just shaking I am scared to death", she said.
