Tuesday night's Mega Millions jackpot has just been increased to an estimated $522 million.

The largest-ever Mega Millions jackpot was $656 million in March 2012, shared by winners in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland.

The Mega Millions drawing will air Tuesday night on WNEP before Newswatch 16 at 11. Both tickets missed the yellow ball number, 1, that would have won them the entire pot.

Mega Millions is played in 46 jurisdictions: 44 states; Washington, D.C., and U.S. Virgin Islands.

To prepare for an even bigger jackpot, and especially after selling a $1 million ticket, more store associates were scheduled to handle lottery ticket sales.

It now stands at $522 million with a cash option of $308.1 million. The odds of winning is less than 1 in 302,000,000. The New York Lottery urges players to buy tickets in advance to avoid last-minute lines.

The odds of hitting the jackpot are about one in 303 million. The Mega ball is drawn from balls numbered 1 through 25. This is the seventh time the jackpot has exceeded $400 million.
