The trek, coming more than a year and a half into his presidency, does not have the trappings of a state visit.

Trump's calls prompted leaders to call an emergency meeting at the summit Thursday, which delayed a session during which North Atlantic Treaty Organisation leaders had meant to discuss the Afghan conflict.

Mr Trump, who will also spend time with the Queen during his two-day working visit, added: "I think they agree with me on immigration".

A high metal fence has been erected around the USA ambassador's central London residence where Trump will spend Thursday night and the embassy has sent out an alert warning Americans in London to keep a low profile in case protests turn violent.

In a break with tradition, American President Donald Trump will avoid as much of London as possible during his first official United Kingdom visit, but first lady Melania Trump will spend nearly all her time in the city, according to The Huffington Post. The balloon depicts the president as an angry orange baby, wearing a diaper and clutching a cellphone, ready to tweet.

Donald Trump's son Eric has used his visit to Balmedie to speak about his family's love of Scotland and the UK.

People wait to see the arrival of US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at Winfield House in London on July 12, 2018.

A coalition known as Together Against Trump has been the chief organizer of the opposition effort.

Nona Hurkmans, one of the activists behind the infantile inflatable of Trump, said the balloon was a fair response to Trump's own behavior and downplayed claims that Trump deserved more respect. Just a few weeks ago, she called the Trump administration's zero tolerance immigration policy "wrong".

The Trumps were greeted in the courtyard of Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire by UK Prime Minister Theresa May and husband Philip for the dinner in the President's honour. From there his meetings with Mrs May will be at her country home, Chequers, which offers a "more informal setting", according to a Downing Street spokesman.

They will then meet the Queen for the first time, at Windsor Castle, before heading to Scotland where the USA president will spend the weekend at his Turnberry golf course in Ayrshire. She also plans to shift the focus during the rest of Mr. Trump's visit, hoping to steer him toward talk about trade and the growing threat of Russian Federation.

Like this go-round, protesters promised widespread backlash back in February amid the president's plans to travel to London for the grand-opening of a new US embassy.

The blimp's appearance in central London was approved by the Greater London Authority, and Mayor Sadiq Khan has defended the decision, saying it is not for him to be a censor or to decide what is in good or bad taste.

Mr Trump will instead be ensconced at Windsor Castle, west of London on Friday when a blimp tethered next to the Houses of Parliament.

Johnson has told reporters that Americans respected peaceful protest.
