An armless homeless man in Miami, Florida has been charged with stabbing a Chicago tourist with scissors.

He was detained near the attack in a popular shopping and tourist area near South Beach and charged with one count of aggravated battery, a second-degree felony, police said.

Crenshaw is well-known in Miami Beach as a street artist who uses his feet to paint, according to local media.

A police report claims Jonathan Crenshaw clutched a pair of scissors between his feet and stabbed the 22-year-old twice in his arm.

He's often found along Lincoln Road, creating colorful art with his feet while passersby marvel at his ability.

That's when Crenshaw allegedly reacted by jumping up, stabbing Coronado and running away, police said.

Crenshaw said he was lying down when Coronado approached and punched him, police added.

The publication has profiled Crenshaw in the past and found he has had multiple run-ins with police and other officials, including violent crime charges. Paramedics took him to an area hospital for treatment.

Coronado and his friend Cindy Barrientos, who was present during the incident, both told the responding officers that they were just asking Crenshaw for directions when he jumped up and stabbed him, as per a Miami Herald report.

Crenshaw, who has been charged with aggravated battery, has a court date on 18 July.
