Cristiano Ronaldo's move from Real Madrid to Juventus was finally confirmed by the official website of the Spanish giant on Tuesday.

But the quieter story buried within is how Cristiano handled himself upon the news, which had to be utterly heartbreaking for millions of Real Madrid fans.

Ronaldo also won the Champions League with Manchester United in 2008 before departing for Real in a then-world record £80m one year later.

Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how Portugal global Cristiano Ronaldo agreed to join Italian champions Juventus in a staggering £88m deal after club's President Andrea Agnelli traveled to Greece to convince him to join the Turin side.

And after a decade of near-perfect soccer with Real Madrid, it seemed inevitable that Ronaldo would leave the club after his former coach and global legend Zinedine Zidane announced his departure from the team a few days after their third UEFA Champions League victory in May. He has been, along with Lionel Messi, the best player of his generation and he still has a few years left at the top of the game.

"Ronaldo, the one who had us all watching Real-Barca on TV with nearly Spanish eyes and hearts".

These years in Real Madrid, and in this city of Madrid, have been possibly the happiest of my life.

Madrid's current options for the attack are 28-year-old Gareth Bale and 30-year-old Karim Benzema.

But they are not the only ones with faith in one of the best players of all time, with Juventus' shares on the stock exchange spiking by nearly 40 per cent since rumours of Ronaldo's arrival first surfaced on June 28, and by 5.7 per cent yesterday alone. "Real Madrid will always be his home".

These have been nine of the most absolutely marvelous years.

Last week, Gerardo Giannone, a worker at Fiat's Pomigliano D'Arco factory near Napoli, said to Corriere del Mezzogiorn: 'After Higuain, also Cristiano Ronaldo?

Chelsea playmaker Hazard, preparing for a World Cup semifinal with Belgium, has spoken of his admiration for Zidane and been strongly linked with a big-money move to the Bernabeu.
