Warriors Roster & Starting Lineup With DeMarcus Cousins for 2018

The Golden State Warriors have shocked the National Basketball Association once again, adding a superstar at a significantly lower value than his market dictates.

Golden State used its taxpayer midlevel exception to reach a deal with Cousins, who underwent surgery in late January to fix the torn Achilles. The quintet of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Cousins have 25 combined All-Star appearances. Sure Cousins is coming off a serious injury, but one-year, $5.3 million is an insane bargain.

Smith said Sunday evening that league executives have told him Leonard would be willing to sit out next season in an effort to get to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Reports after the injury suggested that Cousins' timetable to return would be between six to 10 months.

The Dubs added an All-Star talent for the mid-level exception, saw their chief rival get worse, saved money while retaining a superstar and dodged the PG-to-LA bullet. The Lakers, however, are a team that Cousins expressed interest in being traded to during his latter years with the Sacramento Kings.

The Golden State Warriors saw that some people were picking the Los Angeles Lakers to win next year's championship and said, "Fine, we'll replace JaVale McGee with DeMarcus Cousins".

Kawhi Leonard prior to Game One of the NBA Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriorsc at ORACLE Arena on May 14, 2017. Cousins hit 104 threes in 48 games with the New Orleans Pelicans before tearing his Achilles last season. The Sixers now can pursue depth pieces to fill out their roster, presumably including another shooter on the wing, perhaps another wing defender and a backup center to fill in minutes behind star Joel Embiid.

That's a tricky area to maneuver, so the Silver and Black might be better off finding a trade package before the season starts. LeBron only got the spotlight for 24 hours and the Warriors came and stole it away, again.

In his eight-year career, Cousins has averaged 21.5 points, 11 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 46 percent from the field.
