The New Images Of Google Pixel 3 Indicate Major Design Change

Only last week was the notch confirmed for the XL device after several phone cases emerged on Chinese e-commerce marketplace AliExpress.

Both devices will keep their fingerprint sensor located on the rear back panel and have multiple cameras in the front - we are not yet sure if it's to enhance security (a la FaceID) or to enhance your selfie game. The cutout will probably give way to a tall 19:9 aspect ratio. Interestingly, it may have dual front-facing cameras, though that could just be an ambient light sensor rather than a secondary camera. And that's exactly what these CAD renders show, along with the two-tone back design that - for better or for worse - has become the Pixel's signature look.

It is true that I was never a Pixel phone's fan, but I am very much impressed with its pocketable 5-inch size (there seriously needs to be a resurgence of smaller, high-powered phones), its attractive pale blue variant and its sturdiness, the Pixel 2 doesn't look sleek. We're talking 158mm height, 76.6mm width and 7.9mm depth, the latter of which could go up to 8.6mm with the rear camera hump taken into consideration. Google will stick with single-lens cameras on the back, according to the report, but these will supposedly support dual-camera-alike Bokeh effects thanks to optimised software. We hope Google will be adding a feature to hide the notch.

Alos, the Pixel 3 is tipped to measure 145.6x68.2x7.9mm, while the Pixel 3 XL is tipped to measure 158x76.6x7.9mm.

With that being said, apart from leaking the renders of the Pixel 3 and 3 XL, not much details have been revealed about the underlying hardware. The smartphone sports a thin frame, with a glass portion at the top, while the bottom is made of metal.

Considering Google is going to hike up prices again, do you think the Pixel 3 and XL will be worth splashing $650 and $850 over?

Judging by the leaks, it is evident that Google is willing to play it safe and follow the established design trends.

Both the inaugural Pixel and the Pixel 2 series were announced on October 4, so you better save the date for the Pixel 3 launch as well.
