Updated Google's entire Home infrastructure has suffered a serious outage, with millions of customers on Wednesday morning complaining that their smart devices have stopped working.

"The fact that it's been 12 hours my Chromecast has not been working and we're only now finding out there's an issue", one user wrote on Twitter.

According to the report, Google has not indicated what caused the extended outage. Two-thirds of those reporting a problem with their device said that their Google Home was unresponsive, while the the remainder said that their smart speaker could not access the internet.

The Made By Google account on Twitter has confirmed it's aware of the issue and actively working on a fix, and once they confirm that all is well, we'll update this article accordingly.

People reported being unable to stream on Chromecast, or use Chromecast to connect to other devices.

"Saying "Hey Google" will have the device immediately answer "there was a glitch, try again in a few seconds" or "sorry, something went wrong, try again in a few seconds", the site's Sarah Perez wrote. Casting through Chromecast wasn't working as well. Performing a reboot of the affected device should solve any problems. And, if they attempt to reset the speaker, the Homes sometimes can not reboot at all.

Currently, there's no public interface showing problems for Google Home or Google Chromecast.

Affected users have been tweeting at Google for most of the afternoon so it appears the issue is significant enough to sufficiently trouble Google's engineers. If you would like an immediate fix please follow the directions to reboot your device.
