Amazon leaked Prime Day 2018 details

Amazon "Prime" subscriptions cost $119 annually, up from the original $99 price tag after a fee hike in May. The fact it's on 16th July also means Prime Day is slightly later this year (it was on 10th July in 2017), though it's speculated that Amazon didn't want to have to compete with the last few games of the World Cup. This is Amazon's 4th annual Prime Day.

Amazon launched Prime Day in 2015. Last year, the event lasted for 30 hours.

BT has become the first United Kingdom pay TV provider to offer Amazon Prime Video access via its set-top box.




Amazon Marketplace sellers are also expected to be active participants in this year's Prime Day.

Created to shower Amazon Prime customers with discounts, Amazon Prime Day is, until this year, a 24-hour period in which flash sales crop up on the main Amazon storefront at different intervals. As you can expect, customers are already mentally queuing up round the block to get their hands on (if a year ago is any indication) some utterly ridiculous video game deals. I also wouldn't be surprised to see discounts and sign-up offers for things like Audible, Amazon Music Unlimited, Amazon Fresh, and the like, as Amazon offered special deals if you signed up during Prime Day previous year too. Both services offer advertisement-free content for free with the Prime membership.

We expect plenty of other big-name retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and Home Depot, as well as niche brands like Sephora, Pottery Barn, and Nordstrom to hold sales around this time too. Don't blame Amazon if you're inundated with cat-related deals on Prime Day. Expect Amazon to offer heavy discounts on its own products, but also on some of the newest and most popular products available.
