"China is willing to work with Russian Federation and other countries to preserve the JCPOA", Xi said. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he told Trump the organization is not "remotely" considering adding Russian Federation.

Putin's remarks follow a report that White House officials were working toward setting up a meeting.

"The president of the United States himself has repeatedly said that he considered such a meeting appropriate, and I confirm that this is indeed the case".

"The president's support for inviting Russian Federation back into the G-7, just after they meddled in the election to support his campaign, will leave millions of Americans with serious questions and suspicions", Schumer said. "Back in the day colleagues refused to come to Russian Federation due to certain reasons".

"We're looking for peace in the world", Trump said Saturday, according to the Daily News.

Russia's membership in the G8 was suspended in 2014, after it illegally annexed Crimea from Ukraine.

"Whether you like it or not - and it may not me politically correct - but we have a world to run..."

The carefully choreographed affair contrasted with the discord in Canada, as Trump disavowed the G-7's joint statement and criticized his host, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Before the medal ceremony, Putin said the two heads of state had enjoyed "fruitful" talks. It is a serious issue, this might really hurt the economic interests of many countries, first of all, of course, of the European ones.

After the USA withdrawal, Iran wants assurances from the remaining parties that its interests are guaranteed or it will resume nuclear activities with a higher speed. Xi also stressed the importance of China and Russian Federation working ever closer together as both nations are permanent members of the UN Security Council and therefore must continue to coordinate at ever higher levels in order to establish protocols for peace at the highest levels of multiple global institutions.

The Iranian president further described Washington's recent decision to withdraw from the 2015 nuclear agreement as "a recent example of the United States' unilateralism and indifference towards the opinions of the global community".

The president added that the nuclear deal is backed by a U-N Security Council resolution and its, therefore, binding for all countries.

Last month, US President Donald Trump announced Washington's pullout from the JCPOA, vowing to reinstate nuclear sanctions on Iran and impose "the highest level" of economic bans on the Islamic Republic.

The other parties to the nuclear deal - Britain, France, Germany, Russia, and China, along with Iran - have all said they want to keep the agreement going.

Founded in 2001, the Beijing-based SCO has largely served as a vehicle for resolving border issues, fighting terrorism and - more implicitly - to counter American influence in Central Asia following its invasion of Afghanistan.
