Bill Clinton: I don't owe Monica Lewinsky an apology

"A lot of the facts have been conveniently omitted to make the story work", Clinton told NBC's "Today" show when asked about his decision to fight the articles of impeachment passed by the House in 1998. He noted that the renewed focus on the Lewinsky scandal in light of the Me Too movement is due in part to voter frustration with Trump.

When pressed about why he hadn't reached out to Lewinsky personally, Clinton told NBC, "this was litigated 20 years ago".

"I've never talked to her", Clinton said, adding, "I did say, publicly, on more than one occasion, that I was sorry".

At the same time, the former Democratic president claimed credit for empowering women in his orbit and disputed that he might owe Lewinsky a private apology, insisting his public televised apology was adequate. "Because people would be using the facts instead of the imagined facts".

The 42nd president also said he thought that a Democratic president would have been impeached by now if confronted with the same facts facing Mr. Trump, whose 2016 campaign has been under investigation for a year over allegations of Russian collusion. Clinton has also read Patterson's books and admits to love them. "I've had nothing but women leaders in my office since I left".

"You can't get any more authoritative than this", he said of Clinton's insight into the presidency while writing the book.

Clinton, speaking with NBC in an interview with aired Monday, defended himself from recent criticism about his handling of his affair with Lewinsky in 1995. Alongside her essay, she wrote, "Grateful to the myriad people who have helped me evolve + gain perspective in the past 20 years. worth reposting this today".

Ana Navarro wrote: "I know Bill Clinton". Clinton could have simply said that times have changed for the better; that he has admitted his wrongdoing multiple times; that he hates how Lewinsky and other women like her have been treated; and that he and other men need to commit to soul-searching. "Nobody believes I got out of that for free".

Trump has faced several sexual misconduct accusations, but has denied all of them. It's way overdue. But I think - it doesn't mean I agree with everything.
