"I feel devastated, not for the end of the Roseanne show, but for all those who poured their hearts and souls into our jobs, and the audience that welcomed us into their homes", he wrote. The now-cancelled second season was expected to attract an estimated $60 million (£45 million) in advertising revenue.

According to TMZ, ABC is seeing if there is a possibility of "re-branding the show and focusing on" Gilbert's character, Darlene Conner, rather than Roseanne.

"Two knowledgeable sources" tell THR that Barr "offered an emotional and rambling mea culpa" for her offensive tweet, even breaking into tears at various points in the discussion.

"This is incredibly sad and hard for all of us, as we've created a show that we believe in, are proud of, and that audiences love- one that is separate and apart from the opinions and words of one cast member".

She canceled a planned appearance on comedian Joe Rogan's podcast that was set for Friday.

"He said: what were you thinking when you did this?"

The rebooted sitcom was shitcanned by the American ABC network earlier this week, after star Roseanne Barr posted a tweet comparing Valerie Jarrett, a former advisor to President Barrack Obama, to an ape. Goodman, who plays Roseanne's husband and Gilbert's father on the comedy, is reportedly "very interested".

Though many readily admit that the tweet can be viewed as racist or is blatantly racist they pointed out that Rosanne apologized immediately without anybody asking her to or at ABC/Disney's suggestion.

The Daily Mail video showed Barr talking on her cell phone.

Many on Twitter accused the media of abiding by a double standard for firing Barr but not others, like Bee, who made controversial comments. While he said that Barr would "always" be his friend, he joked that one of her "multiple personalities" was a "racist".
