Harvey Weinstein hit with rape allegation in new lawsuit

The new case follows a similar action which has stalled thanks to the bankruptcy of TWC

The new case follows a similar action which has stalled thanks to the bankruptcy of TWC

The suit comes after Weinstein entered a not guilty plea following a NY grand jury's indictment on Thursday that included two counts of rape and one criminal sexual act.

Harvey Weinstein was facing a new rape allegation on Friday, including claims that a woman captured video of Weinstein assaulting her, as part of a lawsuit alleging that he had help covering up his misconduct with women. She moved away from him, but continued her sales pitch.

"She had shared important evidence against Weinstein with the very law firm who represented Weinstein - unbeknownst to her", the lawsuit said.

Weinstein is already the defendant in another class action lawsuit filed by six women in California.

Almost 100 women have now accused Weinstein of crimes ranging from sexual harassment to assault and rape going back decades. It alleges racketeering, witness tampering, mail and wire fraud, assault, civil battery, negligent supervision and retention and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

And, as it was mentioned at the beginning of the article, other women were named in the suit, including Caitlyn Dulany, who claims Harvey assaulted, battered, threatened, and held her in his hotel room during the Cannes Film Festival in 1996.

The lawsuit alleges that Weinstein was supported in his sexual pursuits by film companies and dozens of workers for those companies who knew he was abusing women. Friday's case was filed in NY.

The lawsuit was filed one week after he was arrested on rape and criminal sex act charges stemming from accounts by other women.

We are told the video, which The Blast previously viewed before the lawsuit, will be evidence of Weinstein's assault and will become a key piece of evidence in the case.

The third plaintiff, actress Larissa Gomes, alleges that Weinstein cornered her in a hotel room in Toronto in 2000, tried to get her to give him a massage and asked to see her breast.

The complaint also details how she initially approached the law firm of Benjamin Brafman a year ago, and turned over evidence, before realizing that Weinstein was actually a client of Brafman's.

Brafman, Weinstein's lawyer, is one of America's most celebrated criminal defence attorneys. Dulany and Gomes have previously spoken publicly.
