Erdogan also criticized US President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the Iranian nuclear deal, Ynetnews.com reported.

"The British embassy to Israel is based in Tel Aviv and we have no plans to move it". According to their published statement, "the massacre of the Palestinians" was a response to demonstrations against the USA intention to move the Embassy to Jerusalem.

But the move upset the Arab world and Western allies.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a live TV show Hard Talk BBC lashed out at Israel - after the recent events in Syria and around Gaza.

"With its latest step America has chosen to be a part of the problem, not a solution, and lost its mediator role in the Middle East peace process", Erdogan told the Chatham House global affairs think tank.

France also spoke out against the United States move, saying along with many other critics that it violated "unambiguous" global law and UN Security Council resolutions.

Over the past few years, Israel has frequently attacked military targets in Syria in what is considered as an attempt to prop up terrorist groups that have been suffering heavy defeats against Syrian government forces, which has been fighting against foreign-sponsored militant outfits since 2011. He said that by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital, the United States stands to "lose allies".
