The Hill first reported Thursday that, in a closed White House meeting with communications staffers, Sadler dismissed McCain's push to block the confirmation of the president's nominee to head the Central Intelligence Agency, insulting him over his fight against brain cancer. But Sanders declined to comment further, and only divulged Sadler's employment status after she was pressed about it a second time.

She added, "Don't feel bad for me and my family. There is so much more love and prayer being generated for us than anything negative at all", she said.

"Given this White House's trail of disrespect toward John and others, this staffer is not the exception to the rule; she is the epitome of it".

She went on to thank those who shared well wishes for her father and how her father's career and character have made her proud. Then, she spoke to Sadler directly.

"May I remind you my husband has a family", Cindy McCain wrote. The claims were first published by newspaper The Hill, who quoted a source familiar with the remarks. And McCain's daughter, Meghan McCain, weighed in on "The View".

Last July, McCain became the deciding vote against the GOP health care repeal with a dramatic thumbs-down.

"My father's legacy is going to be talked about for hundreds and hundreds of years", Meghan McCain said Friday.

Former Vice President Joe Biden issued a striking statement Friday saying the White House had finally hit rock bottom.
