Dressed like the female pope, Rihanna shut down the Met Gala 2018 as fabulously and fearlessly as only she can do.

Their garments are on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art as part of the Costume Institute's spring exhibition, "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination".

In a scathing new column, Piers Morgan excoriated Hollywood liberals for appropriating Christianity at this year's Met Gala.

Madonna, a key religious provocateur early in her career, turned demure in black Jean Paul Gaultier, with a golden crown studded with crucifixes on her head and shrouding her face in a black fishnet mantilla.

Sticking to the theme of the ball, "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination", but doing it with her own undeniable flair, Rihanna dominated the red carpet in a Pope-inspired piece that left tongues wagging. Jennifer Lopez, who picked a colorful Balmain number with a feathered train and sky-high slit, had a bejeweled cross emblazoned on her chest.

Lana Del Rey and Salma Hayek took a cheeky selfie together, as did Kardashian - who once published an entire book of her selfies titled Selfish - with Bella Hadid and Sarah Jessica Parker. "Black Panther" star Chadwick Boseman wore an ivory cape featuring crosses in gold beadwork.

"My family has [played] a huge role", she said. The hat was created by Stephen Jones millinery.

"Actually said to me at the #MetGala tonight: 'I love your costume.' 'Is that, like, for real?' 'Funky outfit!'" the priest tweeted later. This year's co-chairs include Vogue's Anna Wintour, Rihanna and Donatella Versace. One of the hostesses of the evening was the wife of George Clooney, lawyer Amal Clooney.

The show has since made stars of her entire family, and E! extended the KUWTK show for another five years for a reported $150 million in October.
