"As a mother and as first lady, it concerns me that in today's fast-paced and ever-connected world, children can be less prepared to express or manage their emotions and oftentimes turn to forms of destructive or addictive behavior such as bullying, drug addiction or even suicide", Melania Trump said during the Rose Garden event.

While Trump has given September of previous year said she intends to concentrate on her efforts onto the well being of kids, she'd yet to define what exactly that way, alternatively delving into a extensive range of themes under a wide umbrella of issues. Something unique though: "She has not narrowed her platform down to just one topic as has been done in the past", Stephanie Grisham told CNN. Trump said the "Be Best" campaign will help to support families and children affected by the opioid epidemic, reduce the stigma of drug addiction across the country and bring awareness to programs and places now serving the issue like Lily's Place and the Cincinnati Children's hospital. She also represented the administration at the April funeral of former first lady Barbara Bush.

Most modern wives of presidents have opted to choose one standout point of interest and use their elevated status to promote or encourage it.

As recently as last month, the first lady hosted a smaller group of 12 kids at the White House for a listening session about the emotional issues they face in their lives, both at home and in school. She added, "My hope is that together we can be best at helping children and families find effective ways to educate themselves and support each other". But her spokeswoman explained that Trump will be broadening that platform in her scheduled announcement Monday. "Just listen to your heart, but be yourself", she told them.

Trump has promised to tackle cyberbullying as first lady, hosting major online and social media companies at the White House earlier this year.

Despite everything, Melania Trump has stood by her husband's side, appearing to smile gamely at public events and occasionally showing her own signs of defiance - of doing it her way - as in when she chose to travel separately to his State of the Union address.

She said she will speak to leaders in the technology industry about children's online habits and raise awareness "around the importance of positive behaviors". She's also brought that message directly to classrooms around the country.

"This is something that is extremely important to the first lady", Sanders replies. "I've now been criticized for my own devotion to handling this issue and I know will last".
