Malaysian police Monday released computer-generated images of two men suspected of assassinating a Palestinian scientist in a drive-by shooting in Kuala Lumpur, as they stepped up a hunt for the pair.

"All exit points (out of the country) have been alerted and told that the two suspects must be arrested", he said.

National police chief Mohamad Fuzi Harun said that the motorbike allegedly used by the assailants had been found in the Setapak area of Kuala Lumpur.

Fadi al-Batsh was gunned down on Saturday morning by 2 men on a motorcycle as he walked to a mosque for dawn prayers.

A new photo of one of the suspects shows a light-skinned man with dark, wavy hair and a prominent goatee.

When asked whether the suspects were Mossad intelligence agents, he said police had no information on that but did not rule out the possibility that they had military training.

Some media have reported that the killed Palestinian lecturer, Dr Fadi, was a member of Palestinian militant group Hamas, but the Malaysian police declined to comment on this.

The family said the body was expected to cross from Israel late Wednesday, with the funeral to be held on Thursday.

Fatah reiterated its call for the global community, United Nations bodies and organizations, human rights institutions, and the worldwide Federation of Journalist (IFJ) to intervene in order to protect the Palestinian journalists and stop Israel's crimes against them.

Israel says that Malaysia has become fertile training and recruitment grounds for Hamas and other Palestinian militant factions over recent years, with many recruited at the International Islamic University in Kuala Lumpur.

Palestinian group Hamas on Wednesday denied reports about negotiations for a prisoner swap deal with Israel.

Two days after he was shot in the stomach by an Israeli sniper, Hussein was given permission by Israeli officials to move from a Gaza hospital to one in Ramallah, in the West Bank.
